Meet our Preschool Educators
Anna Florence, Director
Hello, I am Anna Florence. I have worked for Gateway Academy for over 10 years; both as a teacher and as an administrator. I have a Bachelors of Science degree in Psychology with a concentration in Child and Family Development from The University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family. My husband and I live in Charlotte and have a little girl.
On behalf of the wonderful teachers and staff at Gateway Academy Ballantyne, I invite you to visit our preschool. We would enjoy meeting you and your family!!! Please come by and see what sets us apart!!!
Julie Wilkinson, Assistant Director
Julie has been an Assistant Director at Gateway Academy since 2003. She has over 22 years of experience in early childhood. She makes everyone who walks into the school feel like family. Julie believes “a smile or a hug from a child has the power to brighten someone’s whole day.”
Emily Stinebaugh, Assistant Director
I have been in early childhood education since 2004. I attained my Associate’s Degree from Penn State University in Human Development and Family Studies with a major in Early Childhood Education and Care. My favorite thing about working with children and families is knowing that I can have a positive impact in their lives.
I moved to Charlotte with my family in 2015. When I am away from work, I can be found at the baseball field with my boys.
Ashley Dellinger, Teacher
Ashley has served as a Lead Infant Teacher at Gateway Academy Ballantyne since 2012. She has an Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education and Special Education. She strives to help children “awaken a sense of curiosity that encourages them to become lifelong learners.”
Kathy Garmon, Teacher
Kathy has been a Pre-Kindergarten teacher with Gateway Academy since 2003. Kathy has over 24 years of experience and coursework towards and Early Childhood degree. She believes that “learning never ends.”
Bettye Monroe, Teacher
Bettye has served at the Gateway Academy at Ballantyne since 2003. She has coursework towards a Bachelor’s degree. As the school’s cook, she enjoys teaching and sharing healthy eating habits. She tries to plan menus that balance nutritional content and children-friendly items. She believes “children are truly able to enjoy healthy foods when they are routinely presented in an inviting way.”
Ideally, we want to showcase the long tenure with the school and years of experience in Early Childhood Education.
Kelsey Sox, Teacher
Kelsey has been a Lead Preschool Teacher at Gateway Academy Ballantyne since 2010. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education. The thing she enjoys most about working with children is “their sense of creativity and imagination.”
