Learning Through Music

Music plays a key role in the education of young children and enhancement of creating a positive soothing environment. Music as a learning center uses musical instruments, tapes and CD's, and homemade musical instruments. Children will learn to appreciate different forms of music and different types. Musical choices include classical, children's artists, and traditional folk music. Music is used as background for the daily activities and naptime as well as musical opportunities for children to participate.

Stages in Music Appreciation and Understanding:

• Hears and moves to the beat of the music


• Recognizes common songs, attempts to sing along


• Knows the words of a song and participates in singing


• Can sing in front of others with animation; enjoys performing
