Columbia, South Carolina has become home to one of the most unique children's
museums in the United States. The facility, totaling 65,000 square feet,
features exhibits, educational centers, workshops and laboratories with
hands-on displays to serve children 12 years and younger. Outreach programs
will work to strengthen classroom experiences, teacher resources and family
learning. EdVenture is a multi-level, multi-sensory experience based on
real life activities, events and challenges. The museum opened in November
of 2003.
With Gateway's mission in serving families throughout the Carolinas, an association with the EdVenture Children's Museum is only natural. This association helps both organizations - EdVenture, in achieving their goal in building the museum, and Gateway, through an association with a quality program for all children.
Gateway Academy committed funds to the EdVenture Museum to help bring this outstanding program to South Carolina. Based on this donation, Gateway Academy will have a plaque identifying Gateway as one of the sponsors in a main exhibit room designed for children 3 and under titled "My Backyard".
